CriticalCare includes, but is not limited to, new pharmacological and ventilator therapies as well as advanced computerized monitoring for critically ill patients, however unstable, with multiple organ system failure, sepsis, or acute respiratory failure. Other services include the whole range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures associated with the practice of critical care medicine: flexible fiberoptic bronchoscopy with ancillary procedures, thoracentesis and closed pleural biopsy, endotracheal intubation, arterial and central vein catheter placement, bedside pulmonary catheterization, chest tube placement, and chemical pleurodesis.
